Description: Annual herb with an erect and branched stem, 5-60 cm high. The leaves are alternate, sessile, linear, densely white downy, 5-50 x 1-8 mm. The flower-heads are solitary, 5-15 mm broad, petal-like involucral bracts are spreading, pink, lilac, rarely white, uniformly hyaline or straw-coloured or with a fine median reddish-brown streak, tubular florets are purple. The fruit is an achene.

Biology : Flowers from May to September.

Habitat: Sunny slopes, vineyards, bank, steppe, from lowlands to foothills.

Distribution: Middle, Southeastern and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Western Asia (Iran, Lebanon, Syria).
