Endemic species

Kattavia, RHODES โ— Greece

Description: With one of the smallest lips in the Ophrys kingdom, it is considered endemic to Rhodes island, where it has been described very recently. Tiny lip with 6-9mm length, similar to Ophrys cinereophila's but without the strong curvature on the longitudinal axis. It resembles a miniature of Ophrys leucadica. Short stem and few flowered inflorescence. Usually it's V shaped lip base is discolored to whitish.

Biology: Flowering from mid-March to mid-April. Pollinator: Andrena tomora.

Habitat: phrygana, sunlit calcareous soils.

Distribution: Endemic to Rhodes (and maybe Kos), Greece.
