Description: Height up to 60 cm. This Dactylorhiza can be easily discriminated by the thick and bending downwards spur and the deeply divided lip.
Biology: Another distinct character is the late flowering time (late June-August, usually one month later than other high mountain growing Dactylorhiza species).
Habitat: Wet meadows of chestnut and beech forests.
Distribution: Eastern Mediterranean species, from Corsica to Eastern Turkey, Syria and Lebanon, including Bulgaria, Albania, Romania and Italy. Abundant in Northern Greece.
