Spilostethus pandurus Scopoli, 1763

Finike, ANTALYA ● Turkey

Description: Black and white bug. It can be distinguished from similar species by the white spot near the middle and by the pronotum with two transversal black stripes. Antennae, legs and scutellum are black.

Biology : Polyphagous insect. It feed on various plants, including Asclepiadaceae. It is able to capture the toxic glycosides from plants to protect itself against predators.

Habitat: Phrygana, olive groves, waysides.

Distribution: from South Africa to Southern Europe and to China.
