Fritillaria cf. elwesii Boiss., 1884
Kemer, ANTALYA ● Turkey
About the photo: I found this beautiful Fritillaria in a pine forest. It is close to Fritillaria elwesii but with lighter color – purplish-red in place of purplish-brown. It was the last flower of the site and a few minutes later, all petals were down. So, I’m not sure of the ID.

Biology: Flowering from March to April.
Habitat: scrub on limestone (Styrax, Quercus coccifera), pine woodlands, up to 900 m.
Distribution: Turkey (Southern Anatolia), Lebanon, Syria. The holotype was collected in Turkey (Içel, Findikpinar, above Mersin, 1200 m).
