Common names: Hedge Germander, Aegean Sage Germander [En], Τεύκριο το διεστώς [Gr], Kırmızı Çiçekli Kısa Mahmut [Tu]

Cesme, İZMİR ● Turkey

Description: Sturdy shrublet, 10-30cm tall, covered with tiny curled hairs. Leaves 1-2.5cm long, ovate, shallowly crenate, leathery. Flowers up to 1.5cm long, pink or purple, in loosish one-sided spikes.

4 subspecies are described:
T. d. ssp. athoum (Hausskn.) Bornm., 1929 – stems 30-50 cm long, glabrous or almost so. Greece only.
T. d. subsp. canescens (Celak.) Holmboe, 1914 – Endemic subsp. of Cyprus
T. d. subsp. divaricatum Sieber ex Heldr., 1856 (syn.: T. d. Sieb. ssp. villosum (Celak.) Rech.) – Leaves and calyx hirtellous, calyx eglandular-hairy; Greek East Aegean Islands, Crete, Eastern Greece, Israel/Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey (Anatolia)
T. d. subsp. graecum (Čelak.) Bornm., 1929 – Leaves and bracts subglabrous or glabrous ;calyx and upper part of inflorescence glandular-hairy; Greece, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey (Anatolia).

Distribution: Greek East Aegean Islands, Crete, Eastern Greece, Israel/Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey (Anatolia).
