Euphorbia acanthothamnos Heldr. & Sart. ex Boiss., 1859
Common names: Aegean spiny spurge, Greek Spiny Spurge, Chicken Wire [En], Euphorbe hérisson [Fr], Dornbusch-Wolfsmilch [De], Ευφορβία η ακανθόθαμνος, Γαλαστοιβίδα, Κουκκουλοαφάνα [Gr], Sütleğen [Tu]

Arkasa, KARPATHOS ● Greece

Description: Subshrub, cushion-like, up to 12 inches tall (30 cm), branched, with woody stem and wooden spins. The green leaves are simple, alternate and widest at middle. Inflorescence in cluster, with yellow flowers.

Biology: Flowering from March to June.

Habitat: >Phrygana, mostly on limestone soils. Up to 2000 m.

Distribution: Eastern Mediterranean, Former Jugoslavia, Grèce, îles de l’Egée, Crète, Anatolie occidentale.
