Syn.: Gentianella ciliata (L.) Borkh, Gentiana ciliata
Common names: Fringed Gentian [En], Gentiane ciliée [Fr], Franjegentiaan [Nl], Gewöhnlicher Fransenenzian [De], Genziana sfrangiata [It]

Durbuy, LUXEMBOURG ● Belgium

Description: Erect herbaceous plant to 30 cm. The corolla is 25-40 mm length, blue, with ovate-oblong lobes of 10-18 mm. The corolla-tube is widest at apex.

Biology: Flowering from August to October.

Habitat: Chalk grassland; It share the same biotope than Gentianella germanica.

Distribution: Central and Southern Europe, Western Asia.

Protection: In the Netherlands, Gentianopsis ciliata is nearly extinct with only two locations remaining. It is considered as Critically Endangered on the Dutch Red List of vascular plants. The species is also Endangered in UK and in Belgium.
