Palomena prasina Linnaeus, 1761 (nymph)
Common names: Green shield bug [En], Punaise verte [Fr], Groene stinkwants [Nl], Grüne Stinkwanze [De], Fındık yeşil kokarcası [Tu]

Hamoir, LIEGE ● Belgium

Description: A large shieldbug, adults about 12-14 mm long. Reddish antennae (4th and 5th segments). Adults are green in summer, except for the dark membranous tips of the forewings, but changes colour to bronze-brown prior to winter hibernation.
This is a nymph on the last stage before adult.

Biology: It feeds on many deciduous trees and shrubs, particularly hazel, and can be found from June to October.
There is one generation per year. It survives the winter as an adult, emerging from hibernation in spring.

Distribution: Most of Europe, including the British Isles, and extending to temperate parts of Asia and North Africa.
