Common name: Hairy Poppy [En]

Çığlıkara Nature Reserve, Elmalı, ANTALYA ● Turkey

Endemic species

Description: Perennial herbaceous plant, with strong erect stems. Leaves slightly hairy, grey-green. Flowers large on spikes, petals apricot.
Flowering from late spring to early summer.

There are about 35 Papaveraceae species growing in Turkey, which are grouped into eight sections, grouped together on the basis of their morphological characteristics, namely Argemonidium, Carinata, Glauca, Miltantha, Oxytona, Papaver, Pilosa, and Rhoeadium.

Habitat: rocky places, from 600 to 2200 m.

Distribution: This Papaver is endemic to Turkey and distributed in West and South Anatolia.
