Common names: Marbled Fritillary [En], Nacré de la ronce, Daphné [Fr], Braamparelmoervlinder [Nl], Brombeer-Perlmutterfalter [De], Laurel [Es], Σεντεφένια του βάτου [Gr], Böğürtlen Brentisi [Tu]

Mount Spil (Sipylus), MANİSA ● Turkey

Description: It s reddish-orange above, with two rows of black spots on outer half of each wing. The spots in postmedian band are uneven in size, while those in submarginal band are often triangular. Hindwing below has a broad band of irregular yellow sports in basal half and strong purplish tinge in outer half. The relative curves of the forewing outer margin give it a rounded appearance.

Biology : Foodplant are brambles (Rubus sp.). It hibernates as an egg or small larva. The adults fly in one generation a year; from late May to early August.

Habitat: Damp, flowery clearings in and aourang light deciduous or mixed wooland.

Distribution: Southern Europe including Greece, Italy Switzerland, Southern France, Northern Spain, Southern Germany and Poland, Balkans, Turkey, Irak, Iran, Southern Siberia, Mongolia, China and Japan.
