Geropogon hybridus (L.) Schultz Bip., 1850
Common names : Hairless Goatsbeard, Pasture Goatsbeard, Goat's Beard, Slender Salsify [En], Salsifis hybride, Salsifis glabre [Fr], Barba-di-becco annua [It], Τραγόπωγον το υβρίδιο [Gr]

Priene, AYDIN ● Turkey

Description : Annual plant to 50 cm, secreting latex when cut, with stems generally not very branched and glabrous. Leaves alternate, simple, linear to lanceolate, with parallel veins, stem-leaves with sheathing base. The flowers are pink-purple.
Genetic studies has show that Geropogon is a separated genus than the relative Tragopogon.

Biology :It blooms in April-May.

Habitat : fields, side roads, phrygana, shrublands, dry stony slopes.

Distribution : South Europe, Western Asia and North Africa. From Portugal to Iran.
